Gayletter Issue 10 - Frank Ocean

Gayletter Issue 10, Summer 2019. Frank Ocean on the cover. April 2019, three years after Blonde and still no follow-up. Frank Ocean gave almost no interviews in that period. This was one of them. Gayletter's 10th anniversary issue landed with Ocean on the cover, shot by Collier Schorr, a photographer he'd cited as a direct influence on his own visual thinking, alongside Wolfgang Tillmans and Walter Pfeiffer. The interview, conducted by Tom Jackson, covers his queer influences growing up in New Orleans, his creative process, leaving Def Jam, and the recluse label he'd been given and consistently found absurd. It's one of the most open conversations he's had in print. The magazine itself contributors include Andy Warhol drawings, Lyle Ashton Harris, Salman Toor. Reads like a document of a specific cultural moment, not a celebrity profile vehicle. Condition: very good. See images.
